About International Hairstylists Society

International Hairstylist Society (I.H.S.) was created in 1956 by a group of dedicated men and women in the hairdressing industry. This group of people decided that our hairdressers needed to be given a platform to express their talent and creativity ensuring their fellow peers could learn from each other. Their foresight was to bring this group to all states of Australia.

We are primarily facilitators of competitions for the hairdressing industry, which include the face of I.H.S. Star Search Live and Australian wide hairdressing competitions (the only organisation in Australia that holds competitions in all States). 

However, we now also provide a free recruitment site, ozjobfindit.com for all hairdressers, beauty professionals and associated industries throughout Australia.

I.H.S. Mission Statement 

Our mission is to inspire the artistically minded individual to look beyond the present and to achieve new artistic direction.

Competitions

I.H.S. has run its photographic competition, the Face of I.H.S., for the last nine years. The aim of the competition is to seek the most innovative and original direction for the next year. The winner of this prestigious award will show an excellent forward thinking and astute interpretation of global fashion trends.

Judging criteria is that photos should inspire others, be forward thinking and artistic.

There are State Awards and one State winner from Victoria, South Australia / Northern Territory, New South Wales / ACT, Queensland, and Tasmania.  Each State winner will receive a return airfare and one night’s accommodation to the awards night.  The overall winner of the Face of I.H.S will receive a travel voucher for $5000.
